I present to you, Sir, Shri Sabitabrata Dutta.
Born in 1924 in Calcutta (West Bengal), Shri Sabitabrata Dutta received his early training as an actor under Shri Sombhu Mitra and Tulsidas Lahiri, the two distinguished actors of the Bengali stage. Shri Dutta has portrayed many roles with superb histrionic skill. His musical training is an asset to him as an actor and he has also won reputation as a singer. He has played several roles in films and discs of his plays and recitations have been issued.
Shri Dutta organized his now famous drama troupe Rupakar in 1952 and since 1959 he has been the Director of the troupe. In 1963, he got the Akademi Prize for the best produced play, Byapikavidaya, which was directed by him.
For his contribution to the enrichment of the Bengali theatre, Shri Sabitabrata Dutta receives the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award for Acting.
