Satish Bhatia



Born in 1929 in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh, Shri Satish Bhatia was initially trained in Hindustani music under Vinay Chandra Maudgalya and Pandit Jeevan- lal Mattoo. He has worked as a composer and arranger, and has, distinguished himself as a director and conductor of orchestral and choral music. Shri Satish Bhatia joined All India Radio in 1948 and conducted the AIR choral group for many years until his retirement in 1987 as Chief Producer (Music). He is now Chief Consultant (Music) to AIR. He has also composed music for several films, stage shows, and dance-dramas. He has received a number of awards for his work including the Award of Sahitya Kala Parishad, Delhi, conferred in 1984. Shri Satish Bhatia receives the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award for his contribution to creative music.
