M. B. Srinivasan



Born in 1925 in Chittoor, Shri M.B. Srinivasan showed an aptitude for music while still a student. Later, as a member of the Indian People’s Theatre Association, he had occasion to imbibe our folk music in all its variety. After a course of fonnal study, Shri Srinivasan turned to music professionally in 1959. Shri M.B. Srinivasan’s early experience with IPTA led him to found the Madras Youth Choir for which he has composed some two hundred songs in several Indian languages. He is also a well-known music director, with scores of some eighty films to his credit. For his work in cinema, Shri Srinivasan received the Kerala Music Director’s Award for four consecutive years. For his eminence in the field of music and his contribution to its enrichment Shri M.B. Srinivasan receives the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award for Creative and Experimental Music for 1986.
