Chidambaram S. Jayaraman

Shri Chidambaram Jayaraman was born in Vazhuvoor in 1920. He received his initial training in music under his father, Shri P. Sundaram Pillai and his eldest brother, Shri C.S. Gopalakrishna Pillai. Since his very childhood he has been a practitioner of vocal music and later attained fame in the field of creative music. For his compositions he has received several awards and honours. For his various recordings made for All India Radio and for the films, he is recognised today as a leading music composer of Karnatak music. Shri Jayaraman has been an honorary director, Tamil Nadu Government Music College, for some years. For his eminence in the field of music and his contribution to its enrichment, Shri Chindam- baram S. Jayaraman receives the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award for Creative Music for 1983.
