I have the honour to present to you Shri Yeshavant Sadashiva Pandit Mirashi Buwa, who is the recipient of Akademi Award for vocal music of the Hindustani School.
Shri Yeshavant Sadashiva Pandit was born at Belgaum in 1883 and had his training in vocal music from the late Pandit Balkrishna Buwa Ichalkaranjikar, the well-known exponent of Gwalior Gharana.
Gifted with a rich sonorous voice and deeply rooted in the tradition, his music is marked by a purity of style. His associa- tion with the Marathi stage also has been long and distinguish- ed. He has greatly contributed to the development of the Sangeet Shastra and his large collection of the old composi- tions of the Gwalior Gharana has enriched the contemporary musical repertoire. He is a great artist, a venerable teacher and a sincere devotee of the art.
For his pre-eminence in music and for his life-long devotion and service to its cause, I pray, Sir, that you may be pleased to grant him recognition as Musician of the Year, in the field of vocal music of the Hindustani School, and award to him a shawl, a gold Shrinkhal and a Sanad in token of that recognition.
