Madhusmita Mohanty

Born on 15 July 1973 in Bhubaneswar; received training in dance under Smt. Tamal Patra and specialized in the art at Orissa Dance Academy under the guidance of several teachers such as Shri Bichitrananda Swain, Smt. Aruna Mohanty and guru Gangadhar Pradhan; completed her Alankar Poorna in Odissi dance from Akhil Bharatiya Gandharva Mahavidyalaya Mandal, Mumbai; received National scholarship from Ministry of Culture and Deba Prasad Das Memorial Fellowship; performed as a lead dancer of Orissa Dance Academy in important dance festivals within the country and abroad including Konark, Pallavotsav, Polachi Festival, Kalidas Samaroh, Puri Beach Festival, Swarn Nritya Samaroh and Swarn Nritya Pratibha organized by Sangeet Natak Akademi; performances abroad include the 2nd International Odissi Dance Festival, USA, dance festivals organized in Germany, Italy Slovakia and Siberia; also participated in the World Heritage Monumental Series, a production of UNESCO for the Japanese Television; conducted several workshops including the one organized by Indian Art Bhopal; received the Padamshree Sanjukta Panigrahi Samman; presently imparting training to young dancers at the Orissa Dance Academy, Bhubaneswar. Madhusmita receives the Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Purskar for Odissi Dance.
