Born on 7 April 1981, Vijendra Kumar graduated in Political Science (Honours) and
did his M.A. from the Department of Indian Theatre, Panjab University, Chandi-garh.
He has been acting in major produc-tions of The Company, Chandigarh under the
direction of Neelam Mansingh Choudhary. His major plays include Nag Mandala, The
Suit and Little Eyeolf. He has also acted under other directors in plays like
Shakantulam, Andher Nagri Choapat Raja, Azar ka Khwab, and Agni aur Barkha. He
has worked with the Cutural Centre for Children, Theatre for Theatre, Abhinet, and
Theatre Arts in Chandigarh. He has participated in major theatre festivals held in India,
Pakistan, Japan and London.
He has received the Mohan Rakesh Gold Medal and the Prabhat Memorial Gold Medal for academic excellence from Panjab University, Chandigarh. In 2003, he formed his own group, Holy Theatre which focuses on theatre for social causes. He has recently acted in Deepa Mehta’s film, Heaven on Earth.
