Arunima Kumar

Arunima Kumar, born on 1 July, 1978 in Delhi, was initially trained in Kuchipudi by Swapnasundari; and later, under the guidance of Jaya Rama Rao and Vanashree Rao at Kuchipudi Dance Academy on a scholarship from the Sahitya Kala Parishad, Delhi. Arunima obtained her Bachelar’s degree in Economics from St. Stephen’s College, Delhi and M.Sc. in Finance and Accounting from the London School of Economics where she also taught for a brief period.
Arunima has performed at many dance festivals in India and abroad including the Kuchipudi Dance Festival in Kuchipudi, the Bharat Yatra Festival in Lucknow, and the Qutab Festival in Delhi. She has performed in the 50 Years of Indian Independence Celebrations in Bonn; Canberra Festival, Brisbane; and at the Nehru Centre, London; and the Sydney Opera House, Melbourne.
Arunima Kumar’s notable talent in dance has taken her to countries like Portugal, Germany, Fiji, Malaysia and Thailand and earned her high appreciation for her performances. Arunima has also been associated with Spic-Macay (Society for the Promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture Amongst Youth) in Delhi.
Presently, she is engaged in creating her own arts foundation to work for dance.
