Jai Shankar Mishra

Born on 22 September 1975, Jay Shankar Mishra hails from a family of musicians. He was initiated in music under the tutelage of his grandfather Jaddoo Maharaj, a renowned musician, and later learnt the art from his father Jagdish Kumar Mishra, an exponent of the Benaras Gharana.
He is a graded artist with All India Radio and Doordarshan and has performed widely in many prestigious festivals in the country including Swarn Sangeet Pratibha, Allahabad; Haridas Sangeet Samaroh, Pt. Durga Lal Memorial Sangeet Sammelan, Golden Jubilee Mahotsav, Varanasi. He has also accompanied renowned musicians like Pt Vishwa Mohan Bhatt, Ustad Abdul Halim Jafar Khan, and Pt L.K. Pandit.
Jay Shankar Mishra has received awards from various prestigious organizations, including the national scholarship from the Ministry of Culture. He has received the Tal Mani title from Sur Singar Samsad, Mumbai; Maharashi Award from Maharishi Ved Vidyapeeth, and the Gold Medal from Prayag Sangeet Samiti, Allahabad.
