Shahjahan Ahmad Bhagat

Shri Shah-e-Jahan Ahmad Bhagat was born on 23 January 1981 in village Balpora Wathora in Chadoora, Jammu & Kashmir. He inherited the art of performing Bhand Pather from his father Gh. Mohi-u-din Aajiz of traditional Bhand gharana of Wathora Kashmir.
Shri Bhagat has further received training in Bhand Pather from Shri Motilal Kemmu for two years and participated in his plays Aka Nundun and Hameel Nagri folk plays. He also received scholarship from CCRT, New Delhi since 1992 to 2000.
Being a traditional family artist he has been taking part in Pather plays as an actor and dancer since childhood at National Bhand Theatre and made a mark as a young talent in early life and performed widely. He has played all the major Bhand Pather plays: Darzi Pather, Raja Pathar, Bata Pather, Angrez Pather, Gosain Pather, etc. Shah has also acted in television serials of Doordarshan.
Shri Shah-e-Jahan Ahmad Bhagat is awarded the Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar of Sangeet Natak Akademi for the year 2009 for his notable talent in the field of folk and traditional theatre of Bhand Pather, Jammu & Kashmir.
