Takhellambam Shyamkanhai Singh



Shri Takhellambam Shyamkanhai Singh was born on 24 March 1982 at Imphal East, Manipur. He learned Waree Leeba, the story telling art of Manipur, from Shri Amom Lala Singh, Shri Okram Baruni Singh and Shri Chabungbam Kondum Singh. He completed M.A. from Manipur University.
Shri Takhellambam Shyamkanhai Singh has presented Waree Leeba in many prestigious festivals including Festival of the Art of Story Telling organized by West Bengal State Kala Akademi; 10th National Festival of New Choreography organized by Impresario India and India Habitat Centre; the festival of dance theatre Natyanjali organized by Sangeet Natak Akademi, New Delhi.
Shri Takhellambam Shyamkanhai Singh has received scholarship from Centre for Cultural Resources and Training (C.C.R.T.) New Delhi, Manipur State Kala Akademi, Imphal, Ministry of Tourism & Culture, Dept. of Culture, Government of India.
Shri Takhellambam Shyamkanhai Singh is awarded the Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar of Sangeet Natak Akademi for the year 2009 for his notable talent in the field of Waree Leeba of Manipur.
