Swamimalai K. Suresh

Shri Swamimalai K. Suresh was born on 25 July 1975 at Swamimalai Village in Tamil Nadu. He belongs to a traditional family of musicians. His father Pandanallur P.V. Kalidas is the Asthana Nathaswara Vidwan of Swamimalai Temple, Swamimalai. He was initiated by Swamimalai S.K. Rajaratnam in Bharatanatyam, Music and Nattuvangam.
He learnt Carnatic Violin from Shri Lalgudi G. Jayaraman. He has completed graduation in Music from Madras University. He is an 'A' grade artist of the All India Radio. He got opportunity to present his art in several competitions organized by Tanjore Tamil University and Chennai Tamil Isai Sangam and won first prizes. He has composed music for thematic presentations like ‘Women – Past, Present, Future’ and ‘Pothana Bhagavatham’ in the Dasa Bharatham Series and ‘Rama Rasanubhavam’ episodes from Ramanatakam, performed by Smt. Urmila Sathyanarayanan. He is imparting training in Bharatanatyam and vocal music.
He has been rewarded for his talent with ‘Gaana Chinthamani’ title from Gaana Chinthamani from Sumukhi Rajeshekharan Foundation, Chennai.
Shri Swamimalai K. Suresh is awarded the Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar of Sangeet Natak Akademi for the year 2009 for his notable talent in the field of Music for Dance.
