Shrimati Ragini Chandershekar was born on 14 November 1976 in Delhi. She inherited the art of Bharatanatyam as a family tradition and was initiated into the art by her mother Smt. Jamuna Krishnan and Late Guru K.J. Govindarajan.
She further received training in the field under Guru K.N. Dakshinamoorthy Pillai, Smt. Kalanidhi Narayanan and Late Smt. Usha Srinivasan. She also learnt music under the guidance of Late Guru S. Gopalakrishnan.
She has performed extensively within the country in various prestigious festivals such as Jhansi Mahotsav, Swarnotsav Festival organized by the Akademi and festivals organized by ICCR. She also got opportunity to present her art in Barcelona, Madrid and Spain.
She has been duly rewarded for her talent with ‘Lakshmi Viswanathan Endowment Award’ by Sri Krishna Gana Sabha and won Gold Medal by Vipanchee Trust, Chennai.
Shrimati Ragini Chandershekar is awarded the Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar of Sangeet Natak Akademi for the year 2009 for her notable talent in the field of Bharatanatyam.
