Born on 29 April 1973 in Chavakkad, Thrissur, Kerala, Shri
Rajesh Kaleerakath Venugopal has been associated with
theatre for the last several years. He has designed and directed
a number of plays for institutions such as the Thrissur School
of Drama. He has designed lighting for many plays such as
Dhwayam, Palm Grove Tales, Saketam, Well of the Saint,
Trump Cards, Gandhi, and Two Death Scenes, etc.
He is pursuing his PhD from Pondicherry University, and has
obtained his M.Phil (Costume and Make-up), B.T.A., and
M.T.A. (Direction) from Calicut University.
Working as a Guest Lecturer at the University of Calicut, Rajesh Venugopal has been a Lighting Associate with ANIKAI Dance Company, Boston, USA.
He has received a Fellowship for Research Scholars from the Pondicherry University for the period 2009 to 2011. Abhinaya Theatre Trust, Hyderabad awarded him a Certificate of Appreciation in 2011.
Shri Rajesh Kaleerakath Venugopal is awarded the Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar of Sangeet Natak Akademi for the year 2010 for his talent in the field of Stage Lighting.
