Madhu Nataraj



Born on 24 February 1971, Shrimati Madhu Nataraj received her training in Kathak dance under her mother, Shrimati Maya Rao, and aunt Shrimati Chitra Venugopal. Later, she received her training in contemporary dance from Karen Potter and Sara Pearson, and in institutions like the Natya Institute of Kathak and Choreography, Jose Limon Centre, and Patric Widrig Dance Company. Madhu also trained in contemporary dance in U.S.A., U.K. and Poland. She has conducted as well as attended various seminars and workshops within the country and abroad. She has created many choreographic works, including short pieces as well as full-scale productions.
She has performed extensively in various prestigious dance festivals such as the Khajuraho Festival, Khajuraho; Purana Quila Festival, Delhi; Nritya Kriti organized by Sangeet Natak Akademi, Ahmedabad; Festival of Babylon; Kathak Mahotsav, Delhi, Lucknow and Canada; Kalanidhi International Dance Festival, Toronto, etc.
She has travelled widely for her performances, and has received the Mohan Khokar Award in 2011. Madhu is the founder and director of Natya Stem Dance Kampni.
Shrimati Madhu Nataraj is awarded the Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar of Sangeet Natak Akademi for the year 2010 for her talent in the field of Creative and Experimental Dance.
