Born in a family of well-known musicians,
Arushi started learning Odissi dance from her Guru and aunt
Shrimati Madhavi Mudgal, and music from her father Shri
Madhup Mudgal at the Gandharva Mahavidyalaya founded
by her grandfather Pandit Vinay Chandra Maudgalya. She is a
graduate in Sociology from Lady Shri Ram College, Delhi
Arushi has toured extensively in India and abroad as part of her guru’s troupe. As a soloist, she has performed in the Festival of India in Greece; International Odissi Festival, Malaysia; and the Nritya Pratibha festival at Shillong organized by the North-east Centre of the Sangeet Natak Akademi. Arushi was also invited in 2008 by Pina Bausch of Wuppertal Tanz Theater to perform at the International Tanz Festival in Dusseldorf, Germany.
Arushi is a recipient of the President of India’s Bal Shree Award 2002; the Original Mind Award, 2002 in the category of the performing arts; the Sanatan Nritya Puraskar, 2006; the Young Women Achievers' Award by the Young FICCI Ladies Organization in 2011; and the Chitra Kala Sangam Samman.
Arushi Mudgal is awarded the Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar of Sangeet Natak Akademi for the year 2010 for her talent in the field of Odissi dance.
