I present to you, Sir, Shri Ram Narayan. Shri Ram Narayan is one of the most distinguished Sarangi players today. He was born in 1927. Shri Ram Narayan received his early training in music from his father Nathuji Biawat and later studied with Udaylal, Madhav Prasad and Abdul Wahid Khan. His style has as its core the flavour and manner of the Kirana Gharana but he has added many personal touches to this to impart to it a distinctive character. His work is noted for its impeccable and effortless technique. Shri Ram Narayan has given countless concerts both in India and abroad and he has also appeared at top International Music Festivals such as at Vienna and Shiraz. To him also largely belongs the credit of helping the Sarangi achieve the status of a solo concert instrument and of making it known and admired abroad. Shri Ram Narayan has been widely honoured for his work and he has also received the Padma Shri. For his eminence in the field of Music and his contribution to its enrichment Shri Ram Narayan receives the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award for Hindustani Instrumental Music.
