Savita Narsimhan

Shrimati Savita Narasimhan was born into a family of musicians on 15 February 1974 at Mumbai, Maharashtra. She received her initial training in music from Shri Sankara Sarma and later learnt from Shrimati Rama Ravi, and Shri O.V. Subramaniam. At present, she is receiving advanced training from Shri N. Ravikiran. Savita is a holder of Master’s degree in English Literature. She is adept as a vocal accompanist both in dance and theatre performances. An ‘A’ grade artist of All India Radio and Doordarshan, she is the recipient of a Junior Scholarship from the Ministry of Culture. Savita has performed in various prestigious music festivals in India and abroad, including at the Music Academy and the Narada Gana Sabha, Chennai. She has received many awards and titles such as the Talent of the Year Award from the Krishna Gana Sabha, Chennai in 2003, the D.K. Pattammal Award, the Outstanding Vocalist Award by the Music Academy, etc. She has also been honoured by the Narada Gana Sabha in 2004. Savita has a book on music to her credit with the title Adityodayam. She has also many recordings to her credit.
Shrimati Savita Narasimhan is awarded the Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar of Sangeet Natak Akademi for the year 2010 for her talent in the field of Carnatic Vocal Music.
