Gautam Haldar



Born on 11 April 1983 in Kolkata, West Bengal, Shri Gautam Halder learnt the art of stage lighting from eminent lighting designer (Late) Tapas Sen. Shri Halder is also a well-known puppeteer of West Bengal learnt the art from Shri Suresh Dutta.
Shri Halder has designed and operated lighting for different theatre groups of Kolkata. He also designed lighting for a Delhi-based theatre group named Green Room Theatre for their play Bismilla directed by Anjan Kanilal. Shri Halder is well-known for designing lighting for puppet productions such as Raja Harishchandra, Arannya Rodan, Biswajyee, Vivekananda, Tota Kahini (Tal-Betal Puppet Theatre), and Satater Joy directed by Nirapada Mondal, and organized by Satya Narayan Putul Natya Sanstha, South 24 Parganas. Shri Halder is also running his own puppet group named Subash Gram Puppet Theatre. As a puppeteer, he has participated in a number of national and international puppet festivals. He has participated in Putul Jatra festivals in New Delhi (2003), and Mumbai (2005), organized by Sangeet Natak Akademi; National Puppet Festival, Lucknow (2006); puppet festivals in Indonesia, Laos and Myanmar (2008); National Puppet and Mask Festival in New Delhi organized by IGNCA in the year 2010; National Puppet Festival organized by SNA in the year 2011 in Guwahati, Aizwal, Silchar, and Agartala.
Shri Gautam Halder receives the Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar for the year 2011 for his notable talent in Theatre as a stage lighting designer.
