Born in 1938 in Pushkar, Raja- sthan, Shri Ramakishan Solanki was a disciple of Shri Laluji in the traditional music of the region. He was deeply inspired by the sound of the Nagara played in the Brahma temple at Pushkar and took to playing the instru- ment at a very young age. He achieved a high degree of excellence playing in Khayal performances all over Raja- sthan, and also as an accomp- anist at various fairs and festivals. In 1976 he received the Rajasthan Sangeet Natak Akademi Award. Shri Ramakishan Solanki receives the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award for his contri- bution to the folk music of Rajasthan.
