Sangeet Natak Akademi Awards 1971 Music - Hindutani - Vocal I present to you, Sir, Shri Mallikarjun Mansur. Born in 1910, at Mansur (Mysore), Shri Mansur is a leading vocalist of the Hindustani system. He is an accomplished singer of khyals with a blend of the Jaipur and Gwalior gharanas. He has also specialised in rendering Vachanas in Kannada. Shri Mansur received training from Neelkanth Bua Mirajkar (of Gwalior gharana), Manji Khan and Burji Khan (of Jaipur gharana). He has been honoured by various societies and has received the civilian award of Padma Shri. He has been Sangeet Salahkar of the All India Radio and is associated with the Department of Music, Karnatak University, Dharwar. For his eminence in the field of music and his contribution to its enrichment, Shri Mallikarjun Mansur receives the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award for Hindustani Vocal Music.
