Nath Narelkar



Born on 16 November 1935 in Nanded, Maharashtra, Shri Nath Neralkar received his training in music from Shri Anant Hari and Shri Annasaheb Gunjakar. Over a long career, Shri Nath Neralkar has distinguished himself both as an outstanding perfomer and teacher. He has conducted many seminars and workshops on music in India, and has trained many students. He has many recordings to his credit. He has been associated with many prestigious institutions such as ITC Sangeet Research Academy, Kolkata. Shri Nath Neralkar has also acted in many dramas. These include Devmanus, Sangeet Saubhadra, etc. He has adopted a small village in District Usmanabad, where he organizes music programmes to create awareness about Indian music among the people. Shri Nath Neralkar is a recipient of several honours for his work. These include the Kaladan Puraskar conferred by the Government of Maharashtra (1998-99), and the Sangeet Shikshak Gaurav Puraskar given by Bharatiya Sangeet Prasarak Mandal, Pune (2014). Shri Nath Neralkar receives the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award for 2014 for his contribution to Hindustani vocal music.
