I present to you, Sir, Shri Jnan Prakash Ghosh. Born in 1911, Shri Jnan Prakash Ghosh is an eminent musician of versatile talent and accomplishment: he is vocalist, instrumentalist, composer and teacher. Shri Jnan Prakash Ghosh studied Hindustani music with Girija Sankar Chakravarty and with three giants from Rampur, Sagir Khan, Dabir Khan and Mehedi Hossain Khan. Shri Ghosh received his training in tabla from Azim Khan, Masid Khan and Feroze Khan. Shri Ghosh is also one of the most reputed harmonium players today. Apart from the high place he holds in classical Hindustani music Shri Ghosh is known for his light music compositions in Bengali and in Hindi and also for his film music. Shri Ghosh is associated with the academic boards and examining bodies of a number of Indian Universities having Music Faculties. He has also worked as a Senior Fellow at the University of Pennsylvania, teaching Indian Music.
