Born in 1969 in Mysore, Karnataka, Shri Mysore Manjunath was initiated into Carnatic music by his father, Shri S. Mahadevappa. He holds a postgraduate degree and doctoral degree in music from the University of Mysore. An outstanding performer of Violin, Shri Mysore Manjunath has performed in several national and international festivals. He has collaborated with eminent musicians and orchestras including Ned McGowan, Mark Wood, Fabrizio Cassol, Jai Uttal, Joe Craven, Fred Hamilton, Todd Haaby, and many others. He has contributed significantly to the sustenance and development of the art by conducting seminars and workshops on the violin, and giving lecture-demonstrations at many prestigious institutions in India and abroad. As a teacher of violin, he has trained a number of students in the art. He has also been associated with many national and international organizations, seeking to promote Carnatic music across the world. For his services to music, Shri Mysore Manjunath has received many titles and awards including the Rajyotsava Award by the Government of Karnataka, and the American Arts Council Award. Shri Mysore Manjunath receives the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award for his contribution to Carnatic instrumental music.
