Sushree Shazia Bashir was born on 20 December 1984 in Thejiwara
village of district Anantnag, Jammu & Kashmir. She has trained in the
art of singing under the tutelage of Shri Krishan Langoo. She has also
received training in Light Classical Music from Shri T.K. Jallali.
She has also achieved eminence for her singing in various other genres like Sufi, Ghazal and light classical music. She is graded artist of All India Radio, Kashmir. She has performed at many prestigious th festivals including the 5 Kashmir Festival 'Maej Kashir' in Pune, The Baderwah Festival and Sham-e-Ghazal Program at Kishtwar, J&K and Sa Ma Pa Aalap Festival in Kashmir, to name a few. She has many recordings to her credit.
For her contribution to the field of folk music, Ms. Shazia Bashir was bestowed with the Naseem Akhter Memorial Award in 2012 and the Bakshi Memorial Committee Award in 2014.
Sushree Shazia Bashir is awarded the Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar of Sangeet Natak Akademi for the year 2015 for her notable talent in the field of folk music of Jammu & Kashmir.
