Shri Chandra Shekhar Prasad was born on 9 August 1981 in Bishanpur
Adhar Village of Sitamarhi in Bihar. He holds a Doctorate in Theatre on the
Subject 'Loknatya Nach ka Samajik Sandharbh Mein Vishleshan' in 2013
from the Department of Indian Theatre, Punjab University, Chandigarh. He
is also a recipient of the prestigious research fellowship of Inlaks India
Foundation. He also worked as a Research Assistant at the Institute of
Development and Communication (IOC), Chandigarh. He has been working
as the repertory Chief of CEVA Drama Repertory, Chandigarh since August
2012. . Shri Prasad has also worked as a visiting faculty for the Department
of Indian Theatre, Punjab University, in 2011. Apart from this, he has held
the post of Secretary, Chandigarh Sangeet Natak Akademi for the year
2013-14.
Shri Chandra Shekhar Prasad has adapted, designed and directed a number
of Plays including Gulistan based on the works of Sheikh Saadi, Munshi
Premchand Namak ka Daroga, Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore's Munna ki
Wapsi and Ramkanhai ki Murkhta, Mahasweta Devi's Dayan. Who am I
based on Rahi Masoom Raza's novel Os ki boond Marjeeva , a Maithili Play
by Avdhesh Pokhrali, Total Gorakhdhanda- based on a Chinese folk tale. He
has also worked as a playwright, associate director and lighting designer for
many plays.
Shri Chandra Shekhar Prasad is awarded the Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva
Puraskar of the Sangeet Natak Akademi for the year 2015 for his notable
talent in the field of theatre direction.
