Shri Abhishek Pandit was born on 19 July, 1981 at Kolkata. After his
intermediate, he started his own theatre group which performed in many
reputed festivals across the country. To hone his talent further, he attended a
three-month part-time course on theatre direction under the stewardship of
Shri Raj Bisaria in Lucknow in 2007. This course was organized by the
National School of Drama, New Delhi.
He has earned himself a distinctive place by directing plays such as Charandas
Chor, Andher Nagari, Pandey Kaun Kumati Tohe Laagi, Kasaibada, Atha Shri
Raj Charitam, Ashadh Ka Ek Din, Saat Paalon Wali Naon and Andha Yug. He
has also performed as an actor and music composer for many plays, apart
from adapting many stories into performance texts. He is also the founder of
Sutradhar Sansthan, Azamgarh, which organizes an annual theatre festival. He
has been duly felicitated by many Cultural Institutions in Uttar Pradesh.
Shri Abhishek Pandit is awarded the Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar of
the Sangeet Natak Akademi for the year 2015 for his notable talent in the field
of theatre direction.
