Pukhrambam Bilash Singh



Shri Pukhrambam Bilash Singh was born on 1 March 1982 in Imphal, Manipur. He received his training in Manipuri Dance at the Jawaharlal Nehru Manipur Dance Academy, Imphal, and obtained his Post Graduate Diploma in Laiharaoba. Subsequently, he studied other elements of Manipuri Dance under W. Lokendrojit Singh, Th. Ibumubi Devi and R. K. Nobin. He also received training in Thang-Ta under G. Sana Sharma. He is a recipient of the National Scholarship from the Ministry of Culture, Government of India and from the Jawaharlal Nehru Manipur Dance Academy, Imphal.
He has performed solo at various dance festivals such as the festival of classical dance organized by Manipur State Kala Academy. He joined the production unit of Jawaharlal Nehru Manipur Dance Academy as a dancer in 1996 and played lead roles in the choreographic productions of the unit such as Shakuntala, Ahangkar Vinash and Leima Namul Khambi. He has travelled extensively with the group of Jawaharlal Nehru Manipur Dance Academy, Imphal, performing at various festivals within the country and abroad including China, Japan, Italy, Korea, U.K., USA, South Africa, Germany, Singapore, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Bangladesh.
He has received several honours and awards in appreciation of his talent including the Young Talent award conferred by the Manipur State Kala Academy in 2011 and the Dr. B. R. Ambedkar National Award in 2014 conferred by the Dalit Sahitya Academy.
Shri Pukhrambam Bilash Singh is awarded the Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar 2015 for his notable talent in the field of Manipuri dance.
