Born on 23 March 1979 in Ungma Village, District
Mokokchung, Nagaland, Shrimati Supongsangla Jamir belongs
to a family of traditional musicians of Nagaland. She had an
interest in the traditional folk music of the Ao Naga tribe from
an early age. She has collected many of their traditional songs
from the tribal and traditional artists.
Shrimati Supongsangla Jamir is the founder of the Refiners Choir; the Choir aims to preserve and promote the rich traditional and indigenous folk songs and culture of the Ao Nagas. The Choir has many recordings to its credit and has performed in many prestigious music festivals in Nagaland and across India.
Shrimati Supongsangla Jamir is awarded the Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar of Sangeet Natak Akademi for 2013-2014 for her notable talent in the field of Choral Music of Nagaland.
