M. Kali



Born on 27 March 1981, in Kuttakolli village, Tamil Nadu, Shri M. Kali belongs to a traditional family of Kaisilambu artistes. He learnt this art form from his uncle Murugan from the age of fifteen.
Shri M. Kali has performed extensively in Tamil Nadu and in other metro cities in India. He has also toured Malaysia, Australia, and Indonesia as part of official folk groups. Over the last seventeen years he has participated in government and other festivals, including the Republic Day Celebrations.
Shri M. Kali has received the title of Gramiya Kalaimani in recognition of his talent. He also teaches Kaisilambu to interested students in Kuttakoli, Vellore, Tamil Nadu.
Shri M. Kali is awarded the Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar of Sangeet Natak Akademi for 2013-2014 for his notable talent in the field of Kaisilambu Folk Dance of Tamil Nadu.
