Chakresh Kumar



Born on 28 April 1984, Uttar Pradesh, Shri Chakresh Kumar had his early schooling in Madhya Pradesh, where he got his first taste of the theatre by participating in a play at his school. He went to Chandigarh in the year 2000 and studied for a Bachelor in Arts, followed by a Masters' in Theatre from the Department of Indian Theatre, Panjab University.
Shri Chakresh Kumar has acted in more than 40 plays including Bawali, Ekaalap, Sarjahapur ki Shehzaadi, Bali ka Bakara, Sakharam Binder, Raja Harish Chandra, Andhere Nagri Chaupat Raja, Trojan Women, Andhayug, Kohshish Jaari Hai and Gagan Damama Bajiyo, to name a few. He has also acted in more than 4,500 street shows in Chandigarh and other cities of India.
Shri Chakresh Kumar has worked with eminent theatre personalities such as Neelam Man Singh Chowdhary, Niranjan Goswami, Rani Balbir Kaur, and Rashid Ansari, among others. He is currently running his own theatre group Alankar Theatre which has successfully organized three theatre festivals. He has designed the lighting for plays such as Designer, Chirhi Di Amber Wall Udaan, Khali Plot, Sati, Pursuit of Happiness, Seduction, etc. He is currently working as a faculty in My Dream Academy, Mohali.
Shri Chakresh Kumar is awarded the Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar of Sangeet Natak Akademi for 2013-2014 for his notable talent as a stage designer.
