Ashwath Bhatt

Born on 5 July 1975 in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, Shri Ashwath Bhatt has a Post Graduate Diploma in Dramatic Arts from the National School of Drama, Delhi, followed by a P.G. in Classical Acting, and a P.G. Associateship in Acting from LAMDA, UK. He has many theatre, film and television roles to his credit and has carved out a space for himself as a theatre director of repute.
Shri Ashwath Bhatt has been the artistic director of the Theatre Garage Project from 2007 onwards. He has designed and directed many projects including The Zero Story, Comrade, Infinite Stupidity, and Gunahgaar. The plays he has directed include Andha Yug, Ek Mulaqat Manto Se, Thanda Gosht, Kripya Prashtha Ulatiye, and Nrishans. Shri Ashwath Bhatt has worked as an Actor and Associate Director with the Flying Fish Theatre Company, Berlin, Germany as an acting faculty with the SAPA-Halifax University, Birmingham, UK; with the National Theatre, Mannheim, Germany; the GLYP Theatre, Greenwich, UK; the Oxfordshire Theatre Company, UK; and the BBC Worldwide. He has acted in more than 40 plays under the direction of various Indian and international directors including B.V. Karanth, M.K. Raina, Prof John Russel Brown, Jeremy James, Amal Allana and many others. He has received many awards, including the Inlaks Foundation Award and the ArThink South Asia-Goethe Institute Fellowship.
Shri Ashwath Bhatt is awarded the Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar of Sangeet Natak Akademi for 2013-2014 for his notable talent as a director.
