Sangeeth Chakyar

Born on 15 December 1985 in Nelluvai, Kerala, Shri Sangeeth Chakyar C.R. belongs to the family of Kuttanchery Chakyar Madom, which is a family with a long tradition of performing Kuttiyattam and Koothu art forms. He has trained in the art form under Shivan Namboothiri and Kalamandalam Rama Chakyar. Later, he obtained a Postgraduate degree in Kutiyattam from the Kerala Kalamandalam.
The family of Shri Sangeeth Chakyar possesses the traditional right to stage Kutiyattam performances at the Guruvayoor, Kadavakkir, and Peruvanam temples. He has performed extensively at many prestigious events in India and abroad including the festivals organized by the Sangeet Natak Akademi and in the temples in Kerala. He has also travelled to perform in foreign shores such as Asia International Festival at Taipei, Taiwan, The Tubingen University Festival, and the Herman Gundert University Festival, Germany.
Shri Sangeeth Chakyar has received numerous awards and honours including the Kalamandalam Vallathol Endowment 2007, and the Kerala Kalamandalam Yuva Pratibha Puraskar 2015. He is currently working as a Guest Lecturer at Kerala Kalamandalam and is imparting training to students.
Shri Sangeeth Chakyar is awarded the Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar of Sangeet Natak Akademi for 2013-2014 for his notable talent in the field of Kutiyattam.
