Born on 6 February 1989 in Guwahati, Assam, Shrimati Mridusmita Das
received her initial training in Sattriya dance under Bhuban Bora, and later she
specialized in the art form under Ramakrishna Talukdar. She has also received
training in Bharatanatyam under Indira P.P. Bora.
Shrimati Mridusmita Das has performed Sattriya dance widely in many
prestigious dance festivals within the country and abroad including Nritya
Parva and Nritya Pratibha organized by the Sangeet Natak Akademi, Brahan
Natyanjali Festival in Chidambaram, Thanjavur and Kumbhakonam, Assam Day
at IITF, National Festival of Dance in Tripura, Barabati Nrityotsav in Orissa and
Nritya Bharati Festival in Bengaluru. She has also travelled to U.K. for
conducting lecture-demonstrations and performances of Sattriya dance.
Shrimati Mridusmita has been featured in numerous documentaries and
Assamese Satellite Channels.
Shrimati Mridusmita Das has received many awards and honours including the
Young Talent Award for Sattriya from the Ministry of Culture, Government of
India, presented through North East Zone Cultural Centre in 2010.
Shrimati Mridusmita Das is awarded the Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar
of Sangeet Natak Akademi for 2013-2014 for her notable talent in the field of
Sattriya dance.
