Born on 19 June 1980, in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, Shri Nagai R. Sriram received
his initial training in the violin from his grandmother Shrimati R
Komalavalli, and later he received advanced training under the tutelage of
his uncle Shri Kalaimamani Nagai Sri R. Muralidharan.
An A grade artist of All India Radio and Doordarshan, Shri Nagai R. Sriram has performed in many prestigious music festivals in India and abroad. He has distinguished himself as a soloist and has also accompanied veterans of Carnatic music including Shri R.K. Srikantan, Dr M. Balamuralikrishna, Shri T.V. Sankaranarayanan, Madurai Sri T.N. Sheshagopalan, and Shri U. Srinivas. He is the recipient of many prizes and awards.
Shri Nagai R Sriram has received many titles and awards from prestigious music festivals; these include the Shanmukha Sangeetha Shiromani from Shanmukhanand Sabha Mumbai (2007), the Best Violinist award for nine consecutive years from Music Academy, Chennai (2001-2008), and the Yuva Kala Bharathi conferred by the Bharath Kalacha, Chennai in 2003.
Shri Nagai R. Sriram is awarded the Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar of Sangeet Natak Akademi for 2013-2014 for his notable talent in the field of Carnatic instrumental music.
