Kuravi Venkata Subrahmanya Prasad



Born on 6 January 1976 in Kuchipudi village in Andhra Pradesh, Shri Kuravi Venkata Subrahmanya Prasad received his training under Vedantam Radhesyam, Vedantam Rathaiah Sarma, and Pasumarthy Venugopala Krishna Sarma at Sri Siddhendra Yogi Kalakshetram. Subsequently, he received training in female roles in Kuchipudi Yakshagana from Vedantam Satyanarayana Sarma under the special training programme of Sangeet Natak Akademi. He also learnt Carnatic music under Pasumarthy Venugopala Krishna Sarma.
Shri K.V.S. Prasad has performed extensively in various dance festivals including Sri Siddhendra Yogi Mahotsav, Kuchipudi; Kuchipudi Yakshagana Mahotsav, Udupi and Hyderabad; Visakha Festival, Vizag; and Hampi Nrutyotsav. He has played various character roles such as Satyabhama, Madhavi and Lord Krishna in Bhama Kalapam; Parvathi in Parvathi Parinayam and Narada in Vinayaka Chavithi. Shri K.V.S. Prasad has also got the opportunity to perform in the dance ballets choreographed by Vempati Chinna Satyam, Vedantam Satyanarayana Sarma, Vedantam Ramalinga Sastry and Vempati Ravi Shankar.
Shri Kuravi Venkata Subrahmanya Prasad is awarded the Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar of Sangeet Natak Akademi for the year 2011 for his notable talent in the field of Kuchipudi dance.
