Abhishek Raghuram



Shri Abhishek Raghuram Ramkumar was born on 26 September 1985 in Bangalore, Maharashtra. He received his initial training in Carnatic music from his grandfather, Shri Palghat Raghu, and later received advanced training under the tutelage of Shri P.S. Narayanaswamy.
A graded artist of All India Radio and Doordarshan, he has performed extensively in prestigious music sabhas both in India and abroad. Shri Abhishek Raghuram also accompanied eminent musicians like T.K. Murthy, Umayalpuram Sivaraman, Karaikudi Mani, Trichy Sankaran and N. Ramani. He has released many albums from HMV such as the Parampara Series, Raga Expressions, and Pravruddha Sri.
Shri Ramkumar has received awards from various prestigious institutions such as the Yuva Kala Bharathi from Bharat Kalachar in 2002; the Asthana Vidwan title bestowed by the Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam in 2006; the Shanmukha Sangeetha Shiromani awarded by Shanmukhananda Sangeetha Sabha, Mumbai, in 2009; mention as Senior Outstanding Vocalist by The Music Academy, Madras, in 2010; and Sangeet Saraswati given by Manava Seva Kendra, Bangalore, in 2012.
Shri Abhishek Raghuram Ramkumar is awarded the Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar of Sangeet Natak Akademi for the year 2011 for his notable talent in the field of Carnatic vocal music.
