Jayateerth Mevundi

Shri Jayateerth Mevundi was born on 5 May 1972 in Hubli, Karnataka. He was initiated into Hindustani music by Shri Arjunsa Nakod of Gwalior gharana, and later received advanced training under the tutelage of Shripati Padagar, a disciple of Pandit Bhimsen Joshi.
A graded artist of All India Radio and Doordarshan, and a recipient of scholarships given by Karnataka Sangeet Nritya Academy, Bangalore, and Gaanvardhan, Pune, he has performed widely in many prestigious music festivals in India and abroad. Shri Jayateerth has lent his voice to many Hindi and Kannada films. He has a large number of recordings to his credit.
In recognition of his talent, Shri Mevundi has received various awards such as the Sangeet Shiromani Award conferred by the Shanmukhananda Sangeet Sabha, Mumbai, and the Young Maestro Award given by the Indian Music Academy, Mumbai.
Shri Jayateerth Mevundi is awarded the Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar of Sangeet Natak Akademi for the year 2011 for his notable talent in the field of Hindustani vocal music.
