Sandhya Gangadhar Salve

Born on 1 July 1975 in Pune, Maharashtra, Shrimati Sandhya Gangadhar Salve obtained her Master's degree in Theatre Arts in the year 2003 from Mumbai University. She has also done her M.A. in Hindi from Shreemati Nathubai Damodar Thackersey Women's University, Mumbai. She learnt Bharatanatyam for two years. She has taught as language and drama teacher in International Baccalaureate School for three years. She has also been a visiting faculty for literature appreciation/costume designing in Academy of Theatre Arts, Mumbai University. She is presently working in Doordarshan, Mumbai as a Transmission Officer.
Shrimati Sandhya has designed costumes for a number of plays such as Zulwa, Mohandas, Priya Bawari, Le Shaugandh Tu, No Sex Please, Panchhi Aise Aate Hain, Rajdarshan, Ajintha, Hamidabai ki Kothi, Me Ladachi Maina Tumachi, etc. Apart from her assignments of designing costumes, Shrimati Salve has also translated scripts such as Kikidivi (Marathi-Hindi). She did research and noting work for a book titled Abhinayachi Saha Kaushalye written by Sadashiv Amravpurkar and Ashok Jategoankar.
Shrimati Sandhya was chosen for the Maharashtra state government's 'Vyavsaik Rangbhumi' Award for Best Costume Designer for the play Mohe Piya which was staged in three different languages.
Shrimati Sandhya Gangadhar Salve receives the Sangeet Natak Akademi Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar for the year 2012 for her notable talent as a costume designer.
