Born on 19 July 1982 in Kuchipudi village of Andhra Pradesh, Shri
Vedantam Sathya Narasimha Sastry received his initial training in
Kuchipudi dance under his father Vedantam Radheshyam and later from
Vempati Chinna Satyam and Vedantam Rathaiah Sharma. Shri Sastry
has obtained a postgraduate diploma in Yakshaganam and a diploma in
Kuchipudi dance from Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University. He has also
learned Carnatic music under Shri Sisthu Prabhakara Krishna Sastry
and Mridangam under Shri P. Satyanarayana.
Shri Vedantam Sathya Narasimha Sastry has performed in major dance festivals within the country and abroad including at the Kuchipudi Natyothsavam (2003), and the National Dance Festival of Andhra Pradesh State Cultural Department (2010). He has also participated in the International Kuchipudi Convention in California, U.S.A. in 2008.
Shri Sastry has played various roles in Kuchipudi Yakshagana such as Prahlada and Hiranyakashipu in Bhakta Prahlada, Shiva in Parvathi Parinayam, Karma Somayaji in Golla Kalapam. He has also choreographed several dance-dramas including Parvathi Parinayam and Rithu Samharam. Shri Sastry has been imparting training in Kuchipudi dance to young dancers at his institution Vedantam Kuchipudi Art Academy for the last 19 years.
Shri Vedantam Sathya Narasimha Sastry is awarded the Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar of Sangeet Natak Akademi for the year 2012 for his notable talent in the field of Kuchipudi dance.
