Born on 11 February 1987 at Imphal in Manipur, Shri Sinam Basu Singh
received his initial training in Manipuri dance at the Jawaharlal Nehru
Manipur Dance Academy, Imphal. Later, he received his training in
Manipuri dance at the Visva Bharati University and obtained a
postgraduate degree in Manipuri dance. He has also studied the art form
under Shri Y. Hemanta Kumar, Shri N. Tiken Singh and Shri W. Lokendrajit
Singh. He is pursuing his PhD at the Visva-Bharati University, Santiniketan.
He has performed extensively in prestigious festivals within the country such as the Uday Shankar Dance Festival (2007), Ganjam Mahotsav (2007), Pratibha Utsav of East Zone Cultural Center (2009), Vysakhi Nrityotsav (2011), Nataraj Dance Festival (2011), Pragjyoti National Dance Festival (2011), Kin Kini Festival (2011), and Purush Festival (2013). He has also travelled abroad for performances in Bangladesh, Malaysia and Australia.
Shri Sinam Basu Singh is awarded the Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar of Sangeet Natak Akademi for the year 2012 for his notable talent in the field of Manipuri dance.
