N Guruprasad

Shri Guruprasad Nagaraja Rao was born on 22 February 1979 in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. He received his training in Ghatam under the tutelage of Shri K. Nagaraja Rao and later under T. H. Vinayakram, V. Suresh and Madurai T. Srinivasan.
Shri Guruprasad belongs to the Thanjavur Bani Parampara, and has received scholarship from CCRT, Government of India for the period 2000 to 2002. He has accompanied many eminent musicians including Sangeetha Kalanidhi Sri K.V. Narayanaswamy. He has a large number of recordings to his credit.
Shri Guruprasad has received many awards and titles including the title of Yuva Kala Bharathi by the Bharat Kalachar, Chennai (2003), the title of Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Aasthana Vidwan conferred by Sri Kanchi Mutt (2007), the Madhura Murali Puraskar by the Vipanchee Academy, Chennai (2012), and the Kalki Krishnamoorthy Memorial Award, conferred by the Kalki Trust, Chennai (2012).
Shri Guruprasad Nagaraja Rao is awarded the Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar of Sangeet Natak Akademi for the year 2012 for his notable talent in the field of Carnatic instrumental music.
