लावण्या शंकर

Born on 14 July 1978 in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, Shrimati Lavanya Sankar received her training in Bharatanatyam under Shrimati K.J. Sarasa. She has also trained in Nattuvangam and vocal music.
Shrimati Lavanya Sankar has performed extensively at the various prestigious dance festivals within the country and abroad including Apna Utsav, New Delhi in 1986, and the BRICS International Conference in New Delhi in 2013. She has represented India in the International Week Celebration in Japan in 2000. She was the guest choreographer at Guru Vasanthakumaran Mangalanayagi dance school in Switzerland.
Shrimati Lavanya Sankar has received a scholarship from the Centre for Cultural Resources and Training, New Delhi. Among the awards she has received are the Balasaraswathi Endowment Prize from the Krishna Gana Sabha, Chennai (1999), Yuva Kala Bharathi from Bharat Kalachar, Chennai (2002), and Nadanamamani from Karthik Fine Arts, Chennai (2010–11). She established her dance school, Abhyasa where she is imparting training in Bharatanatyam to young dancers. She is an Agrade artist for Doordarshan National.
Shrimati Lavanya Sankar is awarded the Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar of Sangeet Natak Akademi for 2013-2014 for her notable talent in the field of Bharatanatyam.
