सोहिनी सेनगुप्ता



Born in 1974 in Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh Miss Sohini Sengupta took her Master’s degree in English and started theatre under the guidance of her parent Shri Rudraprasad Sengupta and Smt Swatilekha Sengupta. She also learnt Bharatnatyam under guru Shri Thankamuni Kutti, Kalamandalam. She has been associated with Nandikar, Kolkata since 1996 and acted in several plays directed by Shri Rudraprasad Sengupta and Shri Gautam Haldar namely Sujan Badiyar Ghat, Gotraheen, Nagar Kirtan, Bappajiditya etc. She joined Baranagar Rajkumari Memorial Girls High School, Kolkata as a teacher in 2002. Miss Sohini Sengupta is also regular faculty of Nandikar’s Theatre-in-Education programme & Youth training programme. She has organized and attended many theatre workshops in India and Abroad. She has also performed in theatre festivals in Edinburgh, Stockholm/Umea, Sweden; Biennale Bonn, Germany; Chicago, Baltimore, New York, Cleveland, Minnesota, Atlanta, North Carolina, USA. She has received national culture fellowship given by Ministry of Culture, Government of India For her outstanding acting in the film ‘Paramitar Ek Din’ directed by Aparna Sen she received ‘West Bengal Film Journlists’ Award, ‘Ujala-Anandalok’ Award and ‘Dishari’ Award in 2000 for Best Supporting Actress. Miss Sohini Sengupta receives the Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puruskar for acting.
