Born on 18 January 1976 in Dubai, UAE; obtained Masters in Business Administration from University of Madras and also in Performing Arts from Rabindra Bharathi University, Kolkata; received a grant from UGC and completed her doctorate in Mohiniattam at Bharatidasan University; had her initial training in Bharatanatyam under Shri Kalaimani S. Natarajan of the Melattur Bhagavat Mela Natakam of Thanjavur and Mohiniattam under Smt. Girija Chandran at Regatta Cultural Society, Thiruvananthapuram; also received guidance from Shri Kavalam Narayana Panikkar, V. S. Sharma and Nelliyode Vasudevan Namboothiri; trained in Kuchipudi under Satyapriya Ramana, Derick Monroe and guru Vempati Chinna Satyam at the Kuchipudi Art Academy; received scholarship from the Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India and Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Academy for training in dance; performed in many prestigious dance festivals such as Soorya, Nisha Gandhi, Maharaja Swathi Thirunal Music and Dance Festival, Chennai, Pondicherry and Thanjavur Dance Festival, Vishwa Bango Festival, Kolkata and Swarn Nritya Pratibha organized by Sangeet Natak Akademi; traveled to UAE and Indian Consulate; presented papers in prestigious dance seminars and conferences; has served as Dance Critic for the Mathrubhumi Newspaper, Project Coordinator, Attakkalari Centre for Movement Arts, Bangalore, Manager, Communications and Marketing Arangham Trust, Chennai and Member of Jury, Kerala Youth Festival. Methil Devika receives the Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Purskar for Mohiniattam.
