Born on 14 September 1974 in Delhi, received her training in
music under the legendary musician Pandit Krishna Rao Shankar
Pandit of Gwalior gharana; also acquired proficiency in the art as
a disciple of her father Pandit L.K. Pandit; has performed extensively
in prestigious festivals in India and abroad; has represented as the cultural ambassadress in
2004 for the SAARC music festival in Islamabad; invited by Government of France as Artist in
Residence to be based in Paris in 2003; an ‘A’ grade artist of All India Radio and Doordarshan;
a Doctorate in music; received Junior Fellowship from the Ministry of Culture, Government of
India; has honoured by several institutions including the ‘Golden Voice of India’ and Sur Mani
Award by the Sur Singar Samsad, Mumbai, Yuva Ratna, FICCI Award for music and the Golden
Voice of India; a film on her titled ‘Meeta – Linking a Tradition with Today’ has been made
by Public Service Broadcasting Trust along with Prasar Bharati; has to her credit a number of
music albums; along with Khayal, equally ease with the number of genres like Thumri, Dadra,
Tappa, Bhajan, Sufi and cross cultural music.
Meeta Pandit receives the Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar for Hindustani vocal music.
