Born on 29 May 1978, Govind Singh
Yadav graduated in Economics and
Ancient History from Allahabad
University in 2000. He obtained a
diploma in Dramatic Arts from
Bhartendu Natya Akademi, Lucknow in
2002, and a three-year diploma in
Design and Direction from the National
School of Drama, New Delhi in 2006. He
has been associated with Bal Bhawan,
and Campus Theatre, Allahabad.
Govind Singh has attended workshops on lighting under V. Ramamurthy, Kanishka Sen and German designer Karastan Krasar. He has worked with light designers like Suresh Bharadwaj, Ashok Sagar Bhagat and Gautam Majumdar. He has designed lights for many plays which include Tyagapatra, Kathgulab, Khamosh Adalat Jari Hai, Andha Yug, Traitors, Chekhov Ki Duni y a , Mua v z e , P anc hwa t i , Shambukvadh, and Matrika.
He spent six months on an international cul tural and theat re exchange programme in light technology at the National Theatre of Korea. He is also the recipient of a Young Artists’ Scholarship awarded by the Department of Culture, Government of India. Presently, he is working in the lighting department of the National School of Drama Repertory, Delhi.
