इरावती करनेक



Born on 25 August 1981, Irawati Hemat Karnik graduated from the J.J. School of Fine Arts, Mumbai. She has written six plays: Tartpurti Gairsoy, Teech ki Diwali, Aalton Paaltoon Vadani Kavala Gheta, Murgacha Paaus and Dum Asel Tar. She has adapted and translated many plays written by Anton Chekhov, Tom Stoppard, Harold Pinter, Girish Joshi, Di. Ba. Mokashi, in English, Hindi and Marathi. She has both acted and assisted in plays directed by Chetan Datar, Satyadev Dubey, Sunil Shanbag and Adwait Dadarkar. She has also directed plays like Naaygaonchya Naakyavarun, Goshta, Dharmaputra, and Eka Natacha Mrityu.
Irawati Karnik has attended playwriting workshops under Mahesh Elkunchwar and The Royal Court, London. She writes for Gallery Art & Soul and Bodhana, and is the creative head with Siddhant Cinevision Limited. She has received the Zee Gaurav Award for the best dialogue in the film, Man Pakharu Pakharu.
