Meerananda Borthakur, born on 16 January, 1977, at Guwahati, Assam, learnt Sattriya
dance from Pushpa Bhuyan at Pushpanjali Cultural Academy, and specialized in the
art under Jatin Goswami. Meerananda received a junior fellowship from the Ministry
of Culture, Government of India for her research work in Sattriya dance. She has been
noted for her special talent as a Sattriya dancer and has established herself among the
well-known exponents of her generation.
Meerananda has performed extensively both within and outside her state at prestigious festivals like Nritya Parva, Konark festival, Natyanjali festival at Kumbakonam and Thiruvarur, Nritya Sangam, Kolkata, and Swarnotsava in Ahmedabad and Lucknow, organized by the Sangeet Natak Akademi, New Delhi. Presently, she is teaching and performing Sattriya dance at Guwahati.
