Born on 23 October 1970 in village Guru Har Sahai in
Ferozepur district of Punjab, Shrimati Anita Shabdeesh began
her career in theatre as an actor in the play Rishteyan Da Kee
Rakhiye Naa directed by Shri Atamjeet in 1988. With her
performance in Nava Janam, she joined the theatre
movement of Shri Gursharan Singh in 1993. Later she
established her own theatre group Suchetak Rang Manch at
Mohali in Punjab (1998), and also began directing plays. Her
group has been organizing a theatre festival called Gursharan
Singh Naat Utsav every year since 2004. A diploma holder in
dress designing, Shabdeesh is a member of the Punjab
Sangeet Natak Akademi. She has acted and also directed
many plays, including Inna Di Awaz, Larhki Jis Nu Rona Nahi
Aaunda, Lal Kaner, and Chiri Di Umber Wal Udaan.
A full-time performing artist, Shabdeesh has conducted workshops and presented shows in Canada, the United States of America, and the United Kingdom. She has also acted in Hindi and Punjabi films.
Anita Shabdeesh has received the Best Actor award from the Punjab Lok Sabhyacharak Manch, Punjabi Academy, Delhi, and the Punjabi Arts Association, Canada.
Shrimati Anita Shabdeesh is awarded the Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar of Sangeet Natak Akademi for the year 2010 for her talent in the field of theatre as an Actor.
